Community Events: History and Artisans

October 3, 2014 - Updated: October 3, 2014

The Port Credit and Clarkson neighbourhoods are vibrant communities. And this weekend, there will be tons to do!

Go on a guided tour of the Benares Historic House, which has been restored to reflect daily life in 1918. Get an idea of life in the early 1900’s as you learn about the life and times of the four generations of the Harris and Sayers families that lived in the home – and who knows, you might just find that they had many things in common with the famous Crawley family from “Downton Abbey.”

After the tour, indulge in some warm scones and a pot of tea. Don’t forget to wear your best hat and gloves to the event and really get into the spirit of the early 1900’s.

If tea and scones aren’t for you, perhaps you’d like to shop for some fine crafts in Port Credit and Clarkson. This weekend, the Mississauga Artisan Studio Tour will be running for its 5th year straight! A perfect opportunity to treat yourself, add to your collection or purchase a special gift for a special occasion.

Take your friends or the family to tour through new studios, meet new artists and take in one of Southern Mississauga’s most unique experiences.

Real Estate News: Toronto Home Sales Jump in July

August 14, 2014
The Toronto Real Estate Board just posted the sales information for July, and sales are up again! A 10% jump in sales in sales represents the second best July sales record in history.

Detached houses saw the biggest jump in sales followed closely by condominiums. The jump is attributed to a switch from renting to owning in big segments of the populations. As we mentioned in our previous post, unmarried couples are starting to take-on mortgages before the big day.

However July is a red-hot month for another reason - vacation time. When you're thinking of moving, July is a great time to do it because you can take the vacation time to move into your new place. However now that fall is approaching, there are still many opportunities for people to buy, in a potentially less competitive market. With sales like this in July, things are sure to open up in August or September.

Community Events: Summer Events in Mississauga

June 24, 2014
Summertime is a great time to get outdoors and enjoy the beautiful lakefront our community has to offer. Our blog will continue to keep you up to date on all the local events.

One of Port Credit's hidden gems is the farmer's market every weekend throughout the summer and early fall. Right next to the water, on Lakeshore Rd. E, the weekly market features fresh produce, herbs and pastries. If you're a lover of handcrafts, weekly demonstrations and drop-in classes allow everyone to participate in the fun. For those of you who are health conscious, our market is known for selling organic and probiotic juices, natural supplements and healing teas. There is something for everyone at the Port Credit Farmer's market, and spending a morning at the market may turn into a whole day out on the water in our beautiful city.

Commmunity Events: Where to Watch the World Cup

June 19, 2014
The World Cup is in full swing, and our community has some of the best places to watch the games. If you''re not lounging in a beautiful condo in downtown Port Credit - such as the condo we have listed on 80 Port St. - you might want to head over to The Pump and Patio. The Brogue and Roc'n Docks are two other Port Credit hot spots.  If you live more north, the Office Pub on Hurontario is calling themselves theWorld Cup Headquarters.

Have a better location? Connect with us on Facebook at  Rosemarie Wallace & MaryAnn Stokke and let us know!

Where ever you decide to watch the game, we know how major sporting events can bring a community together.

Community Events: Finding a Summer Camp for your Kids

June 17, 2014 - Updated: June 17, 2014

As parents ourselves, we understand what the end of school means - a mad dash to figure out what the kids are doing for the summer!. Luckily, we have lots of options close to home - at our community centres, museums, schools, pools and local organizations.

The Peel District School Board offers a camp for kids from grades 7-10 to brush up on their math and English skills over the summer called Camp I Can. The City of Missisauga offers over 25 different day camps throughout the summer including Hands on History. Children as young as 3 to as old as 16 can participate in camps held across the community - in Lorne Park, Clarkson, Port Credit and more.  We are so lucky to live where we do!

Community Events: Rattray Marsh Clean Up

June 13, 2014

As realtors, we know all about location and what makes a neighbourhood great. One of the things that makes Clarkson/Lorne Park a great place to live is Rattray Marsh. Acres of beautiful walking trails through the woods and along the water - it is an amazing place to run, walk the dog, take the kids for a picnic or just take a moment to be at peace. This Father’s Day, Credit Valley Conservation is holding a clean-up day called Uproot the Uprise.  Plants like buckhorn are invasive to the marsh, and choke out the native plants. Uproot the Uprise hopes to control the spread of these invasive species by digging up the mature plants. It should be a fun and fulfilling morning of work from 9am-12pm, plus, snacks will be provided.

For more information on the clean-up please go to

June 11, 2014

Looking for some weekend fun in our community, or an exciting Father’s Day activity? Check out the Water Front Festival in Port Credit at Port Credit Memorial park from Friday June 13th until Sunday June 15th. There is a roller disco, musical guests, science experiments, a ‘tea garden’ and more! For families this festival is great. There is always face painting, a petting zoo and rides. The best part is that admission is free! Even if you're not interested in some of the events, the waterfront is a beautiful place to walk around and enjoy. Beautiful Weather on Bethune Road

June 2, 2014 - Updated: June 2, 2014

We had a very busy weekend at our Open House on Bethune Rd! The weather was glorious and people were out in droves to look at homes for sale. The house and yard showed beautifully in the bright sunshine and we had a lot of great feedback on this home.  People unanimously loved the kitchen - it's so much bigger than the typical kitchen in that neighbourhood.  The bathrooms upstairs also got a lot of positive comments and very mom that came through the house loved the custom mudroom.

Stay tuned for more information about our listings, and events going on in the community!
